(Ecofin Agency) - In Kenya, consumers will have to pay more for the purchase of fuel at the pump as the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) in its monthly review increased the retail prices of petrol, kerosene and diesel for the next one month.
This change is to take effect from June 15 to July 14, 2016.
The ERC raised the maximum retail price of petrol in Nairobi, by 2.3% to 86.17 shillings per litre. The regulatory agency also increased the retail prices of kerosene and diesel to Sh50.80 and Sh73.71 per litre respectively, Reuters reports.
ERC attributes the change to the increased costs of importing refined petroleum products in the country.
Last month, the retail prices of petrol and diesel increased by Sh3.54 and Sh4.14 respectively in Nairobi. A litre of petrol costs Sh84.25 while diesel was at Sh70.37.
The price of Kerosene also went up by Sh3.02 per litre to Sh46.98.
