(Ecofin Agency) - The Energy and Water Regulatory Authority (EWURA) in its recent publication has decrease the price of petrol and slightly increased that of diesel and kerosene.
According to the Director General of EWURA, Felix Ngamlagosi, the retail prices for petrol has reduced by 4.57% while diesel and kerosene increased by 2.02%, and 2.45%, respectively.
He stated that compared to the publication released for March, wholesale prices for petrol, has dropped by Tsh.82.82 per litre while an increase for diesel and kerosene by Tsh26.96 per litre and Tsh.35.93 per litre respectively. The changes were valid from April 06 2016.
Ngamlagosi cited the changing oil prices in the global market as the cause of the changes. He said oil marketing companies are free to sell their products at a competitive price as far as the prices follow the authority's price caps and customers buying these products are to demand and keep receipts that noticeably shows the name of a petrol station, date on which such purchase was made as well as the type of fuel and price per litre for every purchase made.
“This can be used as an exhibit in case of a complaint lodged in the event that the selling price is above the cap price or in case the products sold are off the approved specifications,” he told East African Business Week.
