(BOLLORÉ) - On 8 June 2022, Bolloré Transport & Logistics Cameroon opened Kribi Logistics Hub, a modern logistics base with a total area of 24,000 m2. Located close to the Kribi Container Terminal (KCT), this platform is designed to receive, store and deliver goods for both import and export.
More than 4 billion CFA francs (nearly €6 million) have been invested to launch the first phase of the project, with a total budget of 7 billion CFA francs (more than €10 million). The works for this first phase lasted 18 months and were entirely carried out by Cameroonian SMEs. This is the company’s second investment following the 100,000 m2 platform managed by the SEPBC (Société d’exploitation des parcs à bois du Cameroun), which specialises in handling wood.
“This logistics infrastructure will support the work of the Cameroonian authorities to develop local value chains. It will also boost the export capacities of the hinterland countries for commodities. In a difficult international context, Kribi Logistics Hub is a connection point between sea and road flows, to the benefit of the people,” explained Philippe Labonne, CEO of Bolloré Africa Logistics.
This multimodal platform is connected to the port of Kribi via a 2.9 km trunk road, and offers logistics services aimed at supporting the economic growth of the countries of the sub-region (Chad, CAR, Congo, etc.). The start-up phase includes a 7,720 m2 operating area, a 6,000 m2 warehouse and 310 m2 of office space. Kribi Logistics Hub also has a 600 m2 canopy that can accommodate trucks day and night, enabling them to be unloaded in any conditions, including severe weather.
The warehouse is fitted with modern safety equipment, particularly for fire control, including firehose stations, electrical power supply units for charging port equipment, a natural smoke extraction system and autonomous lighting and security systems.
“Kribi Logistics Hub is an essential link in the supply chain to support the development of the new port industrial zone and of the sub-region. The existing synergies with the Port of Kribi, the Customs authority and Kribi Container Terminal mean that we will be able to offer our customers excellent quality of service while guaranteeing full control of logistics costs,” said Serge Agnero, Regional Director Gulf of Guinea, Bolloré Transport & Logistics.
