(Ecofin Agency) - Chevron Nigeria Limited on Wednesday announced that a fire outburst resulting in the death of two employees took place at its storage facility in Escravos, Leadership news reports.

According to a statement signed by the General Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs, Deji Haastrup, two employees of contractors of Chevron Nigeria Limited died as a result of the fire incident. He said the incident took place around 7.00 a.m at a site far away from the production operations area.

The company said all relevant authorities such as the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the Directorate of Petroleum Resources (DPR) have been informed about the incident.

“We are investigating the cause of the incident. Our priority is the safety of our employees and contractors. Chevron wishes to reiterate its commitment to operational excellence, the safety of all personnel, the security of assets and protection of the environment,” it said.
