(Ecofin Agency) - Thirty-one ships carrying petroleum products and other goods arrived at the Apapa and Tin-Can Island Ports in Lagos today and more are still expected till April 24, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) revealed.
NPA explained that the ships which contained diesel and petrol amongst other products had arrived the port, to be moored with aviation fuel, Leadership news reports.
Meanwhile the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Emmanuel Kachikwu, had said that the product will be available in great quantity from today.
He said the ease will be for Abuja and Lagos at first, while the rest of the country, especially Port Harcourt, Warri, Sokoto and Kano, will start feeling the relief by weekend.
“Hopefully by today through Thursday, the fuel queues in Abuja should be over. Hopefully, the same thing will happen to Lagos and thereafter, by the weekend, we should see Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Port Harcourt and Warri get off this state. What concerns me more is not just getting the present queues out that will definitely wear out, what concerns me more is how do you avoid having to have that ever again in this country and to do that there are certain things we need to do,” he said.
