(Ecofin Agency) - Technical measures have been taken so that Tunisia no longer receives radio Al-Bayan, located in the town of Sirte, in Central Libya. It is a question of jamming the airwaves of this media which supports the terrorists of ISIL (ex-Islamic State) who are acting ruthlessly in Iraq and Syria.
“The necessary technical measures will be adopted to jam radio Al-Bayan airwaves or suspend broadcasting from this radio which belongs to the organisation of the Islamic State ‘ISIL’, whose programmes are picked up in the south of Tunisia”, reports Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, quoting Hichem Snoussi, member of the Independent High Authority for Audio-visual Communication (HAICA).
This measure is a result of the agreement between the regulator of audio-visual media and the Ministry in charge of information technology and communication. The radio Al-Bayan was created in July 2014 in Mosul, in Iraq. Its equipment is located in Sirte. But its airwaves go well beyond Libyan territory.
“This radio station can act as a relay between sleeper terrorist cells in Tunisia and transmit through its media content coded messages to terrorist groups”, said Mr. Snoussi
