(Ecofin Agency) - Jacobs Engineering S.A, a Moroccan firm specialized in various sectors like mining, transport infrastructure, and energy was awarded a contract to upgrade electrical infrastructures in Benin.
This firm jointly created by OCP group and the American firm Jacobs Engineering in 2009, will build four solar power plants, transmission lines, electrical substations and a dispatching center in the framework of Benin Power Compact.
This project, to be implemented in 2018-2022, will help strengthen the country’s electricity production capacity and modernize Benin’s energy infrastructures.
Before being chosen for this contract, Jacobs Engineering was already active in Sub-saharan Africa, Côte d’Ivoire notably where it was awarded a project for the construction of an intercity road infrastructure.
It has offices in Senegal, Guinea, Ethiopia, Rwanda, and Tunisia.
