(Ecofin Agency) - In Libya, the National Oil Corporation (NOC) on Monday cleared the oil storage tanks at the Ras Lanuf terminal following attacks by the Islamic State militants on the country's two largest oil ports last week, Reuters reports.
The group attacked the Es Sider and Ras Lanuf terminals, which is situated between the town of Sirte, and the eastern city of Benghazi. The attacks prompted clashes between the militants and the Petroleum Facilities Guard for some days and triggered fires at seven oil storage tanks; five in Es Sider and two others at the Ras Lanuf facility.
According to Mohamed al-Manfi, an official at the National Oil Corporation in eastern Libya, the oil at the Ras Lanuf terminal has been relocated to a safer location. Al-Manfi further noted that each of the oil tanks contains between 420,000 to 460,000 BO.
