(Ecofin Agency) - As issues with owners from whom they lease lands to produce persist, Congolese farmers are calling unto the government for help.
“The government should help us solve the land issue, as it impairs our activities. Harvest which should have already taken place will be carried out in September due to the various issues we had with land owners,” Davy Mitomene, head of an agro-pastoral group of farmers based in the Dzion Dzion community, told Agence d’information d’Afrique centrale.
“There is similar situation faced by the Zola group which operates in the Tsounga village (around Brazzaville). The group is one of those that benefited from the agricultural development and rural roads rehabilitation project (PDARP). It specializes in the farming of fresh vegetables, tomatoes, green eggplant, cucumber, green peas, etc,” the press agency highlighted.
