(Ecofin Agency) - The Government of Nigeria has announced that it is looking into the alleged involvement of Ghanaian companies in the theft of its crude.
President Muhammadu Buhari (picture) highlighted on the possible involvement of Ghanaian companies in the stealing of crude oil from Nigeria during a recent visit to the fellow West African country. He said his government had discovered some Nigerian oil companies conspiring with Ghanaian oil firms to steal crude oil from the country.
Addressing members of the Nigerian community in Ghana, the President revealed that he had received disturbing reports that some oil companies in Ghana were bringing Nigerian crude oil into the Ghanaian system and he pledged to deal with the perpetrators.
“We are going to pursue this information and find out if it is legally done. We will try to get to the bottom of it and prosecute the companies or those persons, who are involved,” he told Sweetcrude reports.
Moses Owarho President of the All Nigerian Community however commended Buhari for his tenacity of purpose in fostering good governance which was anchored on economic reconstruction and the restoration of the dignity of the nation.
