(Ecofin Agency) - Mining firm Kodal has expanded its zone of exploration in Mali, by acquiring the Kolassokoro permit, which is known to be lithium-rich.
The permit is adjacent to the Madina project, provides the firm a 500 km² area with high-quality lithium. The move is part of Kodal’s strategy to identify profitable opportunities for minerals of value in West Africa.
“Lithium has become a huge investment story and we are keen to apply our extensive West African knowledge to begin development in what we believe is a globally significant new lithium province,” said CEO, Bernard Aylward
The company has also revealed that there are lithium occurrences at its Bougouni lithium project, which covers 500 km², and which advances well toward a potential declaration of a virgin resource, according to the JORC code.
Kodal Minerals is listed in London and has as main project is the Kodal phosphate project.
