(Ecofin Agency) - Madagascar’s Ministry for Housing Projects, Land Development and Equipment processed in August, freely, nearly 7,500 land transfer applications as a result of death, News Mada reports.
One of the promises of President Hery Rajaonarimampianina during his campaign, the new measure should facilitate populations’ access to land services which are often unaffordable. From now to December, any person interested will be able to freely proceed to deceased-related land transfers. The period was actually set to give applicants enough time to gather documents such as the death certificate of the deceased, identification certificates of legal inheritors. However, payment certificates, which are also free to get at any fiscal center, take more time to be issued, the website highlights.
Besides making the process feeless, the government has initiated various processes to reinforce land security for land owners, having as target the distribution of 10,000 of land titles by the end of 2016. In this framework, Minister Narson Rafidimanana has, last Saturday, awarded Aqualma’s employees a hundred land titles of 400 m² plots. The next day, in Mahajamba, another 2,500 titles to lands from the State’s private domain were distributed.
