(Ecofin Agency) - Mali’s minister of land affairs, Mohamed Ali Bathily, impressed by the speech of the Congolese delegation at the World Cadastre Summit held last year in Istanbul, Turkey, met on December 7, Congo’s Prime Minister, Clement Mouamba, in the framework of a knowledge-sharing session. A wise decision given that a land reform process is currently ongoing in Bamako, Mali’s capital.
“In its address last year, the Congolese delegation showcased an experience in terms of land management that impressed us much and at the end of the conference we discussed with them to learn more about their experience, and shared ours with them also. We are also interested in the management mechanisms established in relation to land issues,” said Minister Bathily, according to the Adiac.
Held under the theme Let’s Cadastre the World, the event held in Istanbul regrouped around 3,000 people, including ministers of land affairs and housing from Africa, Europe, America, as well as land experts.
“It aimed among other things to inform States about mapping and cadastre, in order to help them easily secure new investment contracts in the land sector. The global forum allowed participants to review cadastral systems in place in their respective countries,” the Adiac said.
