(Ecofin Agency) - Overwhelmed with land-related cases, Malagasy jurisdictions are implementing mechanisms that will help them boost their efficiency. In this framework, the Tribunal Terrier Ambulant (TTA) of Anjozorobe has decided to launch decentralized courts.
The new jurisdictions should help close the distance with litigants. According to TTA’s president, about 1,500 land titles will be reviewed and regularized by the end of November.
“Lands concerned include state-owned lands and private lands that are still considered as state-owned. The TTA plans to simplify procedures related to land title acquisition. For example, the number of land titles issued was reduced to 50,000 ariary from 150,000 ariary. Also, surveyors have been called to identify lands that need a title and register those,” News Mada reports.
In case it proves efficient, other Malgasy jurisdictions could emulate the experience. To insure a rapid processing of cases, judicial decisions will be delivered within a month. A life-saver for land owners and inheritors who up till now, have been suffering administrative slowness and high cost for judicial procedures.
