(Ecofin Agency) - In a memo addressed to all Algerian Walis, the Minister of interior and local communities, Noureddine Bedoui (photo), calls for suitable actions to end agricultural land misappropriation.

“This instruction signed by Noureddine Bedoui orders the prevention of the transfer of agricultural land for public building construction projects. This instruction also recommends avoidance of wasting agricultural land and using it for public housing construction programs," reports Algeria Part.

The minister calls on walis to “increase working site visits to ensure agricultural land protection for individual or collective farms across the country". He also stresses that any offender of these measures may face legal proceedings.
