(Ecofin Agency) - The bilateral Algerian-Indian relations could be strengthened thanks to the meeting ministers Abdelkader Kadi and Sanjeev Kumar Balyan (pictured), both in charge of Agriculture, respectively for Algeria and India. The two leaders indeed indicated that the possibility of both countries establishing joint companies for agriculture has been mentioned.
Poultry farming and veterinary medicine are the two sectors touched on by this idea. A strengthened partnership between the two countries in these sectors will help promote exchanges in terms of training, the APS believe.
If the project comes to fruition, this would be another step forward in the relations between the two countries after the authorisation of the import of beef meat coming from India in 2010, by the Algerian government.
A confident Mr Balyan declared: “I can assure you that after this meeting, the relationship between the two countries in the agriculture field will get better”. Let us recall that these statements come as part of an Indian diplomatic outreach to Algeria, which saw India offering last year a million vaccines to farmers against the foot-and-mouth disease.
