(Ecofin Agency) - In Côte d’Ivoire, the city of Bonoua will welcome an agro-industrial complex dedicated to the processing of cocoa and cashew nuts. The facility will generate 4,000 direct jobs for the youth of the region indicated Kouao Niamoutié (pictured), president of Côte d’Ivoire Logistique and project initiator.
In his speech given during the cornerstone ceremony of this complex, the businessman declared that the construction of the facility is in line with the dynamic of emergence championed by the Ivorian president Alassane Ouattara. “It is a pride to be locally processing our raw material with Ivorian expertise and investment. The emergence of our country will be done through such initiatives and we very much want to play our part” he added before stressing that farmers of the region will hold 10% of shares in the facility.
To understand the importance of the installation of this plant, it is necessary to know the status of these two products that the plant will process hold as strategic cultures for Côte d’Ivoire. Indeed, the country is the African leader in the production of these crops. At the global level, it is the top ranking producer of cocoa and number two for cashew nut.
