(Ecofin Agency) - Coca-Cola Beverages Africa, the continent’s leading drink bottler, announced yesterday May 30, it will inject $100 million in Kenya over the next 5 years.
The company plans to use the amount to launch 50 new products in addition to the over 130 existing ones and also improve infrastructure. With this step, it hopes to take full advantage of the changes in Kenyans’ eating habits as the middle class is growing with an increasing trend for diverse products.
“Kenyan tastes are growing, the need for new brands is growing,” Dary Wilson, CCBA's local MD said, adding that the new line will include several categories of sugar-free drinks and flavored waters.
Let’s note that this new investment follows the launch of a KSh7-billion ($69-million) new juice line earlier this year. The company operates four bottling plants and owns a strong distribution network of 300 employees in the country.
