(Ecofin Agency) - In Senegal, the New Plan for the National Development of Husbandry (PNDE) was allocated a budget of CFA241.167 billion for its implementation over the 2017-2021 period. This was disclosed by Aminata Mbengue Ndiaye (photo), Senegal’s minister of husbandry, during a roadmap presentation with all actors of the sectors.
This program aims to “make husbandry a performant sector, able to satisfy local demand for animal products and insure socio-economic promotion of its actors”. In this regard, the following are planned: improving conditions for market introduction of animal products, modernizing and densifying animal production units, making husbandry safer and insuring piloting, management and administrative coordination of the sub-sector.
Let it be recalled that the PNDE constitutes the operational framework of the agro-sylvo-pastoral act (LOASP) adopted in 2004 and falls in line with the government’s Plan for an Emerging Senegal (Plan Sénégal Emergent - PSE).
