(Ecofin Agency) - In Togo, the Konrad Adenauer foundation wishes for women to be considered more in the framework of ongoing land reform. In this regard, the foundation recently held a sensitization meeting with local administrative and traditional authorities in Tabligbo, in the South eastern part of the country. The meeting falls in line with its “One World, No Hunger” programme.
“We are working to develop in Togo a land chart that will take into account women’s rights in relation to access to lands in various communities,” said Maurice Gblodzro, national coordinator of the foundation, in an interview with Togo Top Info.
“During the two days of meeting, participants, about 40 people from Zio, Bas-Mono, Vo and Yoto were taught about measures related to the application of women’s rights to access lands in communities. In the same framework, the foundation met with administrative authorities of Kozah to discuss ways to improve women’s access to lands. KAF is therefore carrying out a land campaign taking into account both men and women,” the news website indicates.
Women’s access to lands is one of the many issues which were discussed during the recent national land forum held in Lomé. The forum aimed at finding durable solutions to these issues.
