(Ecofin Agency) - Ivorian ginners committed to supply 120,000 tons of cotton seeds to crushers Colheol and Cotraf over the 2015-2016 season.
According to the framework agreement, Olheol is to receive 70,000 tons of grains of cotton whilst Cotraf is to get the remaining 50,000 tons.
The crushers said the agreement will result in job creation and increase output. Cote d’Ivoire’s minister of industry and mining Jean-Claude Brou said “the agreement falls in line with the government’s policy to boost the sector through the local processing of 100% of national output of cashew and textile”.
By focusing on processing, Cote d’Ivoire aims to support the current revolution of the industry which recorded an output of 450,000 tons during the past season.
