(Ecofin Agency) - In Chad, the Chinese company CGOCOC has taken a commitment to develop agriculture. The group, having signed a memorandum of understanding with the Chadian leaders, will build a modern farm.
Apart from agricultural production, the group will undertake processing and marketing of food products, indicates Xinhua. The agency explains that the different projects covered by this MOU will be spread over 10 years.
Commenting on the agreement, the Chadian minister of Agriculture Baïwong Djibergui Rosine emphasised that it just served to confirm the great agricultural potential of the country. “Chad abounds with huge agricultural possibilities which remain untapped”, she said.
Agriculture is one of the pillars of the co-operation between Chad and its partners. Indeed, the country recently benefitted from funding from Kuwait worth USD 13.6 million to develop rice farming.
