(Ecofin Agency) - Egypt exported about 3.2 million tons of agricultural products during the period between September 2017 and April this year, the country’s Agricultural Export Council (AEC) revealed.
This 13% year-on-year increase in volume enabled the Pharaoh’s country to generate about $1.594 billion during the period. The Council reported that the EU and the UK captured the largest share (645,530 tons) generating $421.5 million. Asia absorbed 296, 920 tons while America and Australia imported 16,841 tons of the Egyptian agriculture goods. Meanwhile, Africa received nearly 16,110 tons.
Let’s note that this increase in export is expected to further grow, driven by the recent lifting of embargoes by partners, such as Russia, who agreed to import Egyptian potatoes as of last June 6.
