(Ecofin Agency) - Over the first nine months of 2017, Egypt has exported 4.1 million tons of agricultural products, Reuters was told by the country’s ministry of agriculture’s spokesperson, Hamid Abdel Dayim.
This volume is 13.9% up from what the nation exported a year before, knowingly 3.6 million tons, over the same period. In the first of the year also, the sector recorded an increase (+12.1%).
More generally, this performance comes to confirm forecasts stating that Egypt’s exports should soar this year due to a better attractiveness in the global market resulting from the Egyptian pound’s devaluation, last November by the Central Bank of Egypt.
Let’s recall that that the country’s agricultural exports mainly include fruits (grapes, citruses, dates and strawberries), and vegetables (potatoes, onions, tomatoes and eggplants).
Its main export destinations are Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sudan the European Union and the United Arab Emirates.
