(Ecofin Agency) - The International Cocoa Farmers Organization (ICCFO) launched the “New Generation Cote d’Ivoire” project to support cocoa farming in Cote d’Ivoire. The project aims to boost cocoa production in the country by introducing more youth in the sector.
The ICCFO will provide these youth fertilizers and training. The first batch to benefit from the organization’s support comprises 60 youth. The group recently received 30,000 selected seedlings, the organization revealed. ICCFO intends to replicate in Cote d’Ivoire the initiative which was a success in Cameroon where it was launched five years ago. It introduced 1,200 more youth in the country’s cocoa value chain.
ICCFO’s project is backed by the International Cocoa Organization (ICO), the National Rural Development Agency (ANADER) and the Ivorian Association of Agricultural sciences (AISA).
