(Ecofin Agency) - The government of Burkina Faso has adopted at a council of ministers last Wednesday a decree that establishes a National Council for Land Tenure in rural areas (CONA/SFR). The entity will help the nation better manage its rural land.
“The adoption of this decree provides the structure a legal framework which will insure the efficient implementation of the national strategy for land tenure in rural areas (PNSFMR),” the statement revealing the news said.
Commodafrica says the decree is the concretization of a land strategy launched by Ouagadougou a decade ago. “The strategy has been designed in 2007. At the time, the government said it wished to provide public and private actors an excellent coherent policy framework and a useful instrument for action, by establishing a land office able to efficiently manage land and related issues. This by granting the State’s offices concerned a transparent and harmonized environment for all actions taken regarding rural land management and development,” the website said.
