(Ecofin Agency) - American firm Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) just announced that it has purchased, in Morocco, a wet-milling unit that produces glucose and native starch. Located in Casablanca, the unit belonged to Tate & Lyle.
Chris Cuddy, president of the maize-processing unit at ADM said: “We keep anticipating a growing demand from our customers in the food, animal feed, paper and corrugated cardboard industries”
Let’s recall that Tate & Lyle’s acquisition comes as ADM reinforces its presence in the sweeteners industry. “With this acquisition and that of our former Eaststarch factories, we keep increasing our global presence in the starch and sweeteners markets, as well as our capacity to respond to the needs of our customers worldwide,” Chris Cuddy said.
With more than 32,000 employees in 160 countries, ADM is a leader in the agricultural commodities trade industry. With Bunge, Cargill, and Louis Dreyfus, it forms the famous ABCD quarter which holds 80% of this market in the world.
