(Ecofin Agency) - In Côte d’Ivoire, the region of Bafing will see the revival of a soy bean growing project which was abandoned for some years by the government. On a visit to Touba, President Ouattara announced the return of this project from 2016.

I have the pleasure of announcing something that we all have our hearts set on here in the region of Touba. This is the revival as at next year of the soy bean growing project which has been abandoned these pasts years”, he declared before announcing that an investment of FCfa 16 billion would be earmarked for this.

According to the president, this financing should eventually lead to the production of 45,000 metric tons of oil seeds and create jobs for the youth in the region.

The world’s largest cocoa producer and leading African producer of cashew, Côte d’Ivoire is experiencing an agricultural revolution which, the leaders claim, will contribute to the country achieving emerging market status within 5 years.
