As part of a collaboration between the Egyptian Space Agency (EgSA), the Academy for Scientific Research and Technology (ASR) and the Supreme Council of Universities, the Egyptian government is launching a program to train students in the construction of small satellites.
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar (pictured), confirmed plans for the launch of the program on Jan13 during the first meeting of the Egyptian Space Agency board, alongside Mohamed El-Qosi, MD of EgSA.
Let’s note the project is one of the pillars of the National Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation 2030 published in December 2019 by the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education in order to improve the country's competitiveness in scientific research and technology development, according to africanews.space.
The ministry plans to establish a laboratory for educational satellites, electronic testing and space photo processing. Still, in the field of space research, where Egypt wants to gain more expertise, Minister Abdel-Ghaffar revealed that discussions are ongoing with a delegation from the French Space Agency for possible cooperation.
