Buhari expresses condolence over Anambra Gas tanker explosion

(Ecofin Agency) - The President of Nigeria, Muhammed Buhari, on Friday announced that 100 of people including a journalist were killed in an explosion at a gas plant in the city of Nnewi, in Anambra State, southern Nigeria.

According to residents, the tanker truck exploded outside an industrial plant, resulting in the death of dozens of people who had lined up to refill their gas.

The President through his spokesman, said he was greatly stunned by number of loss of human lives in a single-industrial accident, which to him had shocked families looking forward to a joyous Christmas.“My heart and prayers go out to these grieving families at this difficult and painful moment”, Buhari told Reuters.
