Madagascar : Surveyors are responsible of 80% of land conflicts recorded

Friday, 10 March 2017 17:34

According to the president of the expert surveyors’ order of Madagascar, 80% of land-related conflicts are due to the lack of competence of surveyors in charge of cases and affairs related to public domains, L’Express de Madagascar reports.

“80% of these conflicts results from the fact that the surveyor who was in charge of the case that is the subject of conflict, does not possess the required skills to handle it. Unfortunately, not everyone can be a surveyor,” declared Ranaivoarisoa.

The official is now targeting all the imposters who claim to be surveyors while having neither the skills nor the degree needed for the job. "In fact, an investigation conducted by our order has helped draw out about 10 imposters since last year. We are informing the public that following the initiation of a prosecution procedure at the Antananarivo Criminal court and investigations conducted by the criminal brigade, one of the imposters will be brought to the Anosy lower court on March 21, 2017, to be made an example of,” he announced.
