SEMAFO announced June 28 it has produced its first gold bullion of about 325 oz at its Boungou gold project in Burkina Faso. This move follows the construction and commissioning of the processing plant.
“The first gold pour at Boungou marks an important milestone in SEMAFO’s growth trajectory as it signals the beginning of a significant increase in production and cash flow,” said CEO Benoit Desormeaux.
The entry into production of SEMAFO’s second mine in Burkina Faso (Mana being the first) is set to boost the country’s gold output. As of next year, the mine is expected to generate an average of over 200,000 oz per annum. This, added to Mana mine’s yield, will bring the total gold output to over 400,000 oz.
Let’s note that commercial production at Boungou is scheduled for next August.
