Black Rock Mining announced yesterday May 7, it has produced at its pilot plant in Canada, the world first graphite concentrate with a purity of over 99%, from ore extracted from its Mahenge mine in Tanzania.
“We are not aware of any deposit that is capable of producing 99.3% grade concentrate by standard flotation alone,” the CEO John de Vries said.
While he pointed out other aspects that made Mahenge a “remarkable” project, the manager indicated that 90 million of ore delivered at the mine have been processed in Canada-based plants.
“We believe through the consistent delivery of outstanding results and steadily progressing the project, Mahenge is demonstrating itself as the best undeveloped graphite project available globally,” he added.
Let’s recall that the company which is the only owner of Mahenge project is expecting the mine to annually produce 83, 000 tons of graphite over the first two years of its development phase I.
