(Ecofin Agency) - Gabon’s Minister of interior, decentralization, security and public hygiene, Pacôme Moubelet-Boubeya, received on March 29, 2016, Helmut Kulitz, head of European Union’s (EU) delegation to Gabon who came to reiterate the availability of his institution, to assist the country through the elections this year.
Kulitz told Mr. Moubelet-Boubeya that the EU was not trying to interfere in Gabon’s internal affairs or inspect the country. Rather, it wishes to help Gabon establish a peaceful and transparent environment for the elections as it did through its election observation missions, in Burkina Faso for example.
The Minister of Interior reassured his guest agreeing with the mission and indicating that the elections, presidential and legislative, would take place as planned. He added that Gabon “is willing and glad to receive EU’s and other missions like International Organization of Francophonie (OIF) because it has nothing to hide”.
