(Ecofin Agency) - Mali’s anti-Illicit Enrichment Central Office (OCLEI) gathering members of civil society, private sector and public administration, organized a training workshop for journalists on corruption and illicit enrichment in Bamako, Info Matin reports.
The workshop aimed at developing skills for journalists to better achieve OCLEI's missions. It enabled them to “understand wealth declaration process for state agents and the sanction procedure in case of illicit enrichment. This workshop marks the launching of a battery of training exchanges between partners for fight against corruption in Mali,” Info Matin revealed.
The problem of corruption and illicit enrichment needs to be addressed to ensure the effectiveness of administrative action. “Public money is at the core of the rule of law and democracy. The collection and use of public funds shall respect the principles of the rule of law, legality, transparency, democratic control and accountability. Relevant State institutions, each have their missions and responsibilities in the preservation and use for the benefit of all,” said Amadou Malle, a trainer.
Let’s note that several units characterized exchanges, especially property declaration process, anti-graft legal basis, and the contexts of law against illicit enrichment in Mali.
