(Ecofin Agency) - The court of Marrakech has dismissed the complaint from the Moroccan Association for citizen protection (AMDC) against the movie “Much Loved” indicating that the association was “not recognized as a public service and could thus not engage any legal proceedings”.
AMDC filed many complaints against movie director Nabil Ayouch, the main actress, Loubna Abidar, and any other person to have taken part in the production. All these protagonists were being sued for incitement to prostitution, indecent exposure and featuring of children in a movie with pornographic content.
Concerning the dismissal of the complaint, AMDC’s president, Moustapha El Hasnaoui, said he would appeal to the court’s decision.
Filed in May 2015, the complaint followed the prohibiting of the movie in Morocco by the Ministry of Communication. Mustapha El Khalfi mentioned at the time the following reasons: outrage to moral values and Morocco’s Women, and insult to the kingdom’s image.
Since, “Much Loved” has been broadcasted around the globe and won various prizes. The French-Moroccan director, Nabil Ayouch, in his movie, presented the life of 4 prostitutes in Marrakech. Combining Women’s pleasure and humiliation, the movie includes crude scenes.
The main actress Loubna Abidar was aggressed in Morocco and forced to exile.
