(Ecofin Agency) - Alain-Claude Bilie By Nze (photo), minister of Communication and spokesperson for the Gabonese government, declared yesterday that “the Republic’s government, guarantor of the social peace and national unity, decided, without prejudice toward the decisions that the National Communication Council could take, to empower the General Prosecutor to introduce a lawsuit against the weekly ‘La Loupe’ for disturbing the public order, hate incitement, call for murder and civil disobedience”.
The member of the government explained that, on 3 November 2015, the weekly La Loupe published on the front page, the title “In 2025, there will be no more Gabonese…”. In the article, the newspaper indicates that “there will be almost no native Gabonese in the area called ‘Petit Paris-Mont Bouët’ and not only there”. This publication also indicates that this situation appears to be, “the great project of Ali Bongo, Maixent Accrombessi, Liban Soleman, Sylla Habib and other ‘occasional Gabonese’ who have taken our country hostage”.
The author of the article continues: “it is a matter of urgency to ring the alarm. Elsewhere, this abuse of power is solved with bombs and other kamikaze actions. Thankfully or not, the Bongos have turned Gabonese into people who have no idea about to make a bomb”, before adding: “Recently in France, a lawyer shot a Chairman of the Bar before killing himself. Nothing says that in our country, resorting to a 12 gauge could not be the ultimate solution to solve the abuse of power”.
“The government denounces this gross manipulation aimed at turning communities one against another”, Alain-Claude Bilie By Nze declared. He rapped out that “these comments, a call to xenophobia, violence, hatred and murder are totally opposed to our Constitution, which warrants the freedom of the press in the respect of the rights and reputation of others and the preservation of the public order”.
