(Ecofin Agency) - Burkinabe subsidiary of French firm Olvea just commissioned a FCFA 2 billion shea butter processing unit in Bobo Dioulasso.
The plant can produce 2.5 times more than the unit used up till now. It is a green infrastructure given that 20% of its needs in power is provided via photovoltaic panels. It meets environmental standards and should be certified ISO 22 000 soon, Commodafrica revealed.
Developing the unit is part of Olvea’s strategy to redirect toward new sectors (honey, sesame, moringa and beeswax). In the long run, Olvea’s plan should benefit 35,000 farmers.
