(Ecofin Agency) - How to boost land tenure for the people of Mali? That was the topic of the meeting held last Wednesday which gathered members of the committee in charge of the pilot project of land and forest tenure. The workshop was organized by the Malian subsidiary of the Helvetas Suisse Intercooperation and the National Coordination of Farmers Associations (CNOP Mali).
“The session’ aim was to rule on the validation of land tenure tools which is major step in implementing action plan. Tools reviewed include among others, guides, printouts , registers, certificates and draft decree,” states website Mali Jet.
According to Dr. Daouda Diarra, consultant and representative of the ministry of agriculture who led the session, the main objective is the validation of the tools used in the land and forest tenure project which aims to benefit locals. “All citizens are hereby given the chance to get involved in the decision-making process in relation to the land issue and seeing the diversity of people that came to the meeting, we can see that all of us are willing to fight to get sustainable solutions to the issue which is a barrier to agricultural development in Mali,” he said.
