(Ecofin Agency) - Wet weather could allow Kenyan tea production to be maintained at last’s year level. Alfred Busolo, Director General of the Agricultural, Fisheries and Food Authority (AFFA) said “If it goes on like this, production will be maintained but there may be a dip, a slight dip in revenues”.
Truly, given the actual good weather conditions that producers are experiencing, the region could record excess supply. Kenya thus expects its tea output to generate between Sh115 and Sh120 billion this year, against 125.25 billion the year before.
In Kenya, tea which is currently traded at $3.46/kg recorded a drop in its price after reaching its highest in three years ($4.39/kg) last October.
