(Ecofin Agency) - In Kenya, the Tuskys supermarket chain will open 75 convenience stores in shell filling stations. The partnership between Tuskys and Vivo Energy Kenya who is exploiting the Shell brand should allow for the creation of 900 jobs.
« These convenience stores will offer sweets, day-to-day food products such as milk, bread, and pre-packaged meals,” Tuskys executive director Dan Githua said. These new facilities target drivers, he adds.
Though the company revealed that the project is part of its expansion plan on the national market and is to be financed through bank loans, it has not yet stated the amount associated. Turkeys’ main challenge towards the implementation of this project according to Dan Githua, is the setting up of a sufficiently efficient supply chain which will meet the needs of these convenience stores.
