(Ecofin Agency) - Côte d’Ivoire’s Fonds de Développementy Hévéa (FDH) just committed to participate in establishing 11,500 ha of rubber plantations in the country. The fund aims to support this industry which is currently facing the fall in prices of the commodity.
“2,500 ha will be established through social subventions and 4,000 ha through communities as part of a project to support the agricultural industry. FDH under its usual subvention scheme will establish 5,000 ha,” said Joseph Désiré Bilé head of the Fund.
FDH which is an arm of APROMAC (Association des professionnels du caoutchouc naturel de Côte d'Ivoire) will also rehabilitate 300km of road to facilitate access to production areas.
In 2015, Côte d’Ivoire produced 340,000 tons of rubber.
