(Ecofin Agency) - At the end of the first 10 months of the year, Tunisia’s fishery production stood at 111,000 tons, thus 8,000 tons more than in 2016. The announcement was made last Monday by the ministry of agriculture, water resources and fishery.
In details, fishing produced 96,000 tons or 86.5% of the total output, while aquaculture produced the remaining 15,000 tons.
Let it be recalled that Tunisia has a significant potential in terms of fishery and aquaculture with its 1,350 km-long Mediterranean coast line, its 105,200 hectares of lagoons and its national maritime domain of 80,000 km2.
The fishery and aquaculture sub-sector holds the second position, in terms of agricultural exports in the country, behind olive oil.
