During the Paris international agricultural show (held from Feb 24 to March 4, 2018) Ndeye Coura Mbaye Diop, coordinator of the Inclusive and Sustainable Agribusiness Development Project in Senegal (PDIDAS) advocated for the security of land tenure. This was reported by le Soleil.
“The security of land tenure is one of the prerequisites to attract local and international investors. Land is the first input for the development of agribusiness. At the same time, we need to involve locals to arouse their interest in the whole process. We made 19, 364 hectares of land available for foreign and local investors for their businesses”, the coordinator said.
She also recalled that PDIDAS is funded by World Bank and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) to “encourage the development of an inclusive agribusiness and sustainable land management in Ngalam Valley and around Guiers lake”.
