(Ecofin Agency) - Nespresso goes full speed in Africa. After establishing itself in Senegal last June, the Swiss brand now annouced it would open shop in Libreville next year’s beginning. This landing in Gabon is the most recent manifestation of the group’s desire to expand throughout Africa.
“We plan to keep expanding in the continent because it holds a long and medium term potential and we also have here a growing number of consumers,” the managers of Nespresso’s Middle East, Africa and Caribbean office told ATS. However, the implementation strategy for the brand consists in first implanting in countries with a certain culture of coffee consumption, they add. “We are here to provide coffee lovers the experience they deserve,” they said.
In Africa, besides coffee commercialization, Nespresso also invests a lot in import of coffee beans. At the beginning of October, the group launched Suluja ti South Sudan, first export of coffee from South Sudan. To this end, the group injected more than 700,000 Swiss francs in the coffee industry and plans to inject 2.5 million Swiss francs more in it over the next five years (1 Swiss franc = $0.97).
