(Ecofin Agency) - Dangote Oil Refinery Company Ltd has awarded DuPont Clean Technologies a contract for the provision of proprietary equipment needed for the construction of its new oil refinery and petrochemical plant in Lekki, Lagos Nigeria.
Under the contract, DuPont will be supplying Dangote with equipment such as an alkylation unit, sulfuric acid regeneration (SAR) unit, sulfur recovery unit (SRU) tail gas scrubbing, and fluid catalytic cracking unit (FCCU) stack scrubbing that will help the latter meet gasoline pool octane and emissions requirements. This technology will allow Dangote maximize quality and profitability while reducing its environmental impact.
Construction of the new refinery is part of measures to boost Nigeria’s limited domestic refining capacity. The refinery is expected to be the largest single-train refinery in the world and will include a petrochemical plant, a fertilizer plant and a subsea pipeline project.
With a production capacity of 650,000 bpd, the new refinery, is expected to be completed in the last quarter of 2019.
