Mnangagwa to visit Ghana April 1-3 to boost cooperation
Leaders to discuss trade, health, agriculture, anti-corruption, jobs
Visit expected to yield agreements and showcase Ghana’s development projects
Zimbabwe's President Emmerson Mnangagwa will visit Ghana from April 1 to 3, 2026, to strengthen cooperation across several sectors, Ghana’s presidency said.
The two leaders will hold talks, starting with a one-on-one meeting, before leading their delegations in discussions on trade, tourism, health, sanitation, agriculture, anti-corruption and job creation.
The talks are expected to lead to the signing of memorandums of understanding in key areas of mutual interest, the statement said.

Mnangagwa will also visit the Sweden-Ghana Medical Centre (SGMC) and the Accra Composting and Recycling Plant, where officials will present Ghana’s progress in healthcare and waste management technologies.
The visit follows the first session of the Ghana-Zimbabwe Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation (PJCC) on March 27, 2026, which focused on expanding ties between the two countries. The commission was described as a platform to turn goodwill into concrete, results-driven partnerships.
Although Ghana and Zimbabwe share a common history linked to their independence struggles, formal mechanisms to deepen cooperation were only established after a bilateral agreement signed in June 2023, according to local media. The deal aims to formalise political and socioeconomic relations between the two countries.
Trade between the two nations remains limited. Ghana exported goods worth $378,000 to Zimbabwe in 2024, mainly live plants, mycelium and mushrooms, according to the Observatory of Economic Complexity (OEC). Zimbabwe’s exports to Ghana totaled $8,960, driven by corn, microphones and headphones.
The visit reflects both countries’ efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and explore new cooperation opportunities in strategic sectors.
